I just couldn't stand it any longer
The camper had to go. Took it off Wed. evening, and WOW what a difference. I don't think I'll ever put it back on.

Re: I just couldn't stand it any longer
What a difference! From a old retired looking truck to a sport style with a camper off. Time to sell the camper for funds for the truck!!

Re: I just couldn't stand it any longer
I don't have a problem with toppers as long as it not a 8ft topper on a 6ft bed. They can look nice if done right. I agree that it looks like two different trucks.

Re: I just couldn't stand it any longer
A mild 2/3 drop in attitude and a chrome rear bumper and she'll be classic

Re: I just couldn't stand it any longer
Looks sweet!
Up her in MN, a camper is something you "camp" in (ie sleep)...what you had was a "topper" (used to keep items secure and dry).

Re: I just couldn't stand it any longer
Actually, the topper looks in decent shape and looks alright on the truck... But, it looks classier without it. I agree with a mild drop, say, ah... 4-6. Regardless, sharp-looking and clean truck.

Re: I just couldn't stand it any longer
Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah, the chrome bumper is a must now. Will the bumpers and brackets from 81-87 Blazers and Suburbans work? My wife was a little upset about taking it off because it was nice to keep stuff dry. I may sell the topper and buy a tonneau cover that I can roll back. My dad put one on his '01 and it is really nice. It mounts with clamps to the inner bedsides and the rails and vinyl are together so when you roll it up the bars roll up with it. It's also made to adjust so you can tighten the tension to keep the vinyl from sagging. I'll get pics later.
N2TRUX, I'm gonna keep the rallyes, though the Hopsters would look great. What would be the cheapest way to lower the rear a little?

Re: I just couldn't stand it any longer
Matt,
Having had a bed cover on almost every daily driver I have owned let me make a suggestion. Go with a hard cover like a Snuglid by Snug Top www.snugtop.com. They will keep your bed the driest, and can be removed in minutes with two people. The Suburban, Blazer or "sport bumper" is what your after for the rear. You will have to find a set of truck brackets though. The Burb/Blazer brackets won't work. Yeah Hopsters, that's what you had on there at first. What ever you do don't put them back on there now. Then you will be forced to leave them cause your truck will ....
