Hacked up my 1st gen K5... (lots o pics)
Greetings.
Here's some pictures of my dual purpose '72 K5. I bought it back in January 1999, and it was a very clean K5, maybe one small dent and a few little bubbles of rust. Since then I replaced all the running gear, started wheeling it harder and harder, flopped it on its passanger side, ran numerous trails and had the dents to prove it, Even tank trap and Rubicon. Sure it was sad to see my cherry first gen getting smashed up but i was slowly collecting the replacement body panels, and when it came time to put them on i wanted to make them removeable so i can still drive it as a real nice K5 around town, or run the hardest of trails without the body. What you see here is the transformation my k5 has undergone at Pacific Fabrication in Morgan Hill, CA. "If you can dream it, we can build it." Not only do the bedsides come off, the front clip is now one piece, retains a few of the factory bolts on the cowl and has custom supports up front (in place of the core support) that makes for quick removal before the extreme trails. |

Heh, can you show us pics of what a non trussed and a trussed dana 60 front look like?? :P
:bouncy: that is all steel. The sand at pismo did an excellent job at sandblasting the paint off of it

Oh my God I can not belive that you first took a nice K5 and beat teh cr@p out of it and then even worse you cut it all apart!! What were you thinking!!
Now that that is out of my system J/K I did even worse I took a sweet EB that was in great shape and cut it apart for the Con and Pismo! Nice job on the K5, That was my second choise for a wheeler. Here are a few pic's of my toy. Once it is done we can go the the Con and piss off alot of Chevy and Ford guys with these! Kevin LFD Inc. |

Hey Ryan, welcome over here.I`m a yacker here and a lurker on CK5(Super-K,never seen me?See?).I`d call that "Multi-Purpose",for sure. It`s a great off-road machine, but it`s damn sexy for cruising town. How are you gonna keep the girls out with no doors?
And congrats on Truck of the Month on CK5.I`m sure you can snag it here, too.

Re: Hacked up my 1st gen K5... (lots o pics)
Welcome to the board from West Tennessee. Congrats on proving you can have the best of both worlds in one vehicle. I have never tried rock crawling. Did a little sand running when I lived in Michigan. Mud bog and muddy trails here in Tennessee but always with something beat up and butt ugly. Good job.

He got the whole truck off the ground and we flew and flew and flew and flew..Hey Ryan when does this flight land?
