Slamming a '78 2wd Jimmy???
I bought the truck that I wanted as child a few years ago. 1978 2wd fully loaded GMC Jimmy. It was already somewhat lowered but... when I inspected it a few years ago I found out that the springs in the front were cut and I dont know how the back was lowered. What I would love to do is drop it even more with the ability to raise the back up and down with airbags. I dont know where to even begin on that ordeal. Anyone know the rarity of a 2wd Jimmy???

Welcome to the board. The rarity is not all that rare but they are getting that way. Most have seen better days and are falling apart. Yours is really clean and a good stance. If you want to drop it you need to figure out how much of a drop you're looking for. 3/5 4/6 5/7? Look at other Blazers and trucks that have been dropped. Ask for what stance this is and it will help figure out how to do it.

Thanks! I did some looking around and I saw a couple trucks that were lowered and I think the best would be a 4/6... but I was also thinking if I did a 5/7 drop and did it with bags I could change the height if I didnt want it always dumped. I need that ability anyway since I plan on being able to tow thing occasionally. Should I check around and see how difficult and costly this is before getting too deep? I realized how much of a pain some of the stuff is today when the power window went out today... no fun.

An air bag setup sounds like the way to go for you. I'm not sure how much the bags can hold with the blazer's weight and add to it some towing as well. I'm no guru at all on lowering but N2TRUX is alot better than me on this since his truck is bagged and I believe he's bagging the blazer as well. Hopefully he'll chime in here and help us out.
Most things on these trucks are easy to some and hard for others. It's all based on your level of experience and how much you want to work on them yourself. Most items to add/replace are easy with some basic knowledge and proper planning. I would research all the info and pricing/brands on everything you would need for the swap.

Very original looking Jimmy. Looks good at that height. If you update your wheels to 18's or 20's it would give it a different look. You might what to bag it and go low.
