It's hard to get it to stop!
Recently replaced the carb on my 86 GMC 305. Bought a rebuilt on line from Carbs Direct. Since I installed it on the engine diesels when you turn off the key. I've tried reseting the timing , and adjusting the carb with little or no change. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Sometimes run on occurs due to carbon in the combustion chamber creating hot spots. Try using some top end engine cleaner and see if that helps your problem.

Have you tried decreasing the idle speed?

Yes, not change. When I first put the carb on the engine the fast idle was way out of adjustment but I have that all strightened out.( I think) It 's worst after you've been running the A/C.
