1965 short bed
I now have a 1965 short bed that I'am driving and it has a 350 and four in the floor trans. I won't to change the rear end to something for 60 plus mph driving and add power steering. What is the best way.

Re: 1965 short bed
Pook, don't know about the rear end, but converting to power steering is simple. The topic has been covered on the board many times. Do a search and read. First rule is to get the steering box and pump from the same donor truck. (I think it was '85, GM changed from std threads to metric threads.) getting both from the same donor truck will insure the pump will attach to the box. You can purchase a bracket to attach the box to the truck, or, you can do what i did, build you own. (Keep in mind, it is not brain surgery).
Anyway, good luck with the truck. I do enjoy my driver. Shorty |

Re: 1965 short bed
If you want to switch to 5 bolt wheels, the best way is to get a front end from a 71-84 pickup. Swap the entire crossmember, you will need to drill some holes for bolts. Look at earlier posts here, it has been discussed before.
The rear end swap is not hard, if you can find one from a coil spring truck. Most are leaf spring, which will mean cutting the mounts off and welding on the ones from your truck.
