Stock frames
So who is running a stock chassis under their 55-59? I am looking at swapping ours out to a stock chassis. Right now it has a brutal Nova front clip grafted onto the front end. The previous owner did a butcher job of it.
So how does a stock chassis ride with mono leafs? Anyone runnin that set up? |

Re: Stock frames
I have a 59 that I put a 75 C10 crossmember onto. the rest is stock including the rails. Some comaro clips look good but some really look bad. RBs obsolete has a clip that fit nicel y and uses impala suspension parts. I'm going to use that one on my next project if I ever get done with this one.

Re: Stock frames
I am running the original stock suspension on all four corners, and it rides like a truck! Rough and tough!
I have new shocks on it, but I have done nothing to the 47 year old springs. I am also running radial tires which some say help. Trust me, you have to pay attention driving the old girl down the road. Welcome to Edmonton, is your truck still in Flin Flon?

Re: Stock frames
When I first saw this thread I forgot that I do still have a stocker aswell. It is a serious work truck though and has 4 sets of leafs out back. It is fun to drive and as Blaine stated you need to pay attention to what is up ahead. I enjoy driving it and can't complain about it but it is in no way a "hot rod". If it were it would be unsafe.

Re: Stock frames
Maybe you need to go for a ride!
I am traveling to Edmonton on Nov 24th and if there is no snow on the ground I will be taking my 59 GMC for a drive.

Re: Stock frames
Hey Blaine, if you're still in the area, you should stop by for a visit. I'm not to far, just in the south end of Leduc
