.....I'm thinking of adding a sway bar to the front of my "66" pickup and I need some "input" on how well they work...thank you....

sway bars are SWEET. im sure someone else will help you out with compatability from other trucks so you dont have to buy a new one (a ripoff IMO) if you can find an inch and a quarter sized one from a junkyard that will fit from a newer truck, get the mounts, some new urethane bushings and your truck will feel as much like a racecar as it can considering its a huge un-aerodynamic steel brick!
no downsides btw.

My '64 has a front sway bar and handles great,

Go ahead and install one, you will notice a big difference.

I just upgraded from a 15/16 in front that the PO put on there to an 1 1/4 bar from a one ton 6 pack with poly bushings, 73-87 is the years of trucks you'll need to look at. The difference is huge its a must have. The front end doesn't rock up when you take a corner. I also have a camaro rear bar that wil be put on shortly. Again its a must have.

Yep, fully agree. It's like going from driving a canoe to an indy car (not a harsh ride though, just feels like a newer vehicle). Get the 1.25" bar from a 73+ 3/4 ton+ 2wd. Energy suspension bushings and ECE mounts for lowered trucks (or no mounts like my Burb). All the 67-72 stuff will work. Camaro rear bar adds even more stability, but going from no bar to a 1.25"er will be a HUGE improvement by itself.

I have to agree that there are no cons and all pros. Although my truck is a 58 it sits on a 64 chassis. When I got it, it didn't have sway bars. Only lots of body roll going around corners, so I had to slow right down. I installed aftermarket bars front and rear (trailing bars with coils) and now it corners like a slot car. Next to power steering, this is the best upgrade I have done. No regrets. Installation was a breeze and they look great.
