67-72 Drop HELP!!!
Ok I have a 69 LWB... What all is involved in a 4/6 or 5/7 Drop I am really thinking 5/7, I found a kit for $500 with everything but I want to know all is involved and if anyone has any ideas or places that sell for cheaper. i am on a budget here and wanted to just use drop coils in rear and cut the front but i don't think I will get enough drop, I need ideas for the most drop for the buck. Also any ideas for routing exhaust will a big drop...This truck is a project so I can hack it up to get it done.. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Well I have a 3-5 drop for sell for 225.00 plus shipping it would set your truck pretty low but not to low I in stalled this kit but I am now going with air bags becouse I want to be able to set the frame on the ground the kit is perfect zero miles on it let me know if you are ints. So I can get shipping prices for you thanks Bruce.

Anyone else have any ideas? What I really want to know is what all is involved. I know its not juts setting in coils. I want a big drop. But that 3/5 Kit for sale might do for now, Who knows?

Drop spindles (2 1/2, or 3") and 1, 2, 3 or 4" lowering springs for the front. The drop spindles will require you to change to disk brakes. In the rear you can buy up to 6" lowering springs and will need to "c" notch the frame above the axle. If the truck has leafs, then an axle flip kit and shackles.

got to c notch it if you're going that low--spend the money and do it right the first time you'll be glad you did. everything from early classics is good but will cost ya--drop spindles are the only way to go, spring or bags you need drop spindles. just my $.02

Stock High is better than Cheap Low. Buy the good stuff a little at a time. For anything more than 2" on the front, you really need dropped spindles, or your ride, handling, and steering will suffer. In the rear, you will need a kit that relocates your shock mounts to make the shocks stand up vertcally and actually work. These guys are supension experts: www.earlyclassic.com

Don't cut the coils. Make sure the tires tuck, and don't rub anything. When you drop anything that low your steering and suspension are going to suffer. I agree with MikeB on buying parts a little at a time. Why spend money to do something quick and poorly, and have to it over again? Do some checking around before you do anything. So, you guys are saying that using a 3" front drop coil will result in worse handling/steering?

i oroginally dropped the front with 3 in springs. only leaves about 1 in clearance between the bump stop bracket and crossmember. used to bottom out badly. got tired of bottoming out and went to dropped spindles. that is the ONLY way to fly. dropped spring for the front are a waste of money imo. you can cut your original spring and remove the bump stop bracket for clearance for free.

There are other ways but they involve alot of cutting and welding on the frame/crossmember. I'm getting an extra 1.5" with a crossmember notch. You can also step your frame at the crossmember to go as low as your motor or frame clearance will allow. A body drop is also an option. Once again, alot of fab work.
