Swapping rear ends...
I've got a 64 c-10 with a 308 and my son has a 68 c-10 with a 410. I want to get him better gas milage since his is a daily driver. Do you think they will just swap cleanly? They are both 6-lug wheels. WHat shuold I measure for this swap?

Re: Swapping rear ends...
If you have a coil rear and coil rear all you should have to measure is the width of the axles from drum to drum. They should be the same I don't think they changed until 69 but maybe it was 68.

Re: Swapping rear ends...
The only thing you might check is the panhard bar and mounting. Some of the earlier trucks had a mount welded to the passengers side axle tube instead of the stup by the center housing, but I can't remember which years... But since you have both it souldn't be a problem.
I'll try to find a pic. Rg

Re: Swapping rear ends...
azgordo the 63-64 panard bar is different from the 65-72 panard bar.you could use a track bar kit or maybe modify the 64 bar to work.the perches are in the right place.slepysal the 60 rear is different from 63 up rears.the perches are in a different place.
