Raising a 2wd C/10

Hello guys I am starting to fix up my Dad's old truck. It is a '72 C/10 long bed 2wd. What is different about it is it has a 4 cyl turbo diesel from a tractor in it, which is heavier than a BB. I am planning to use the truck to pull my gooseneck trailer to antique tractor pulls.

Right now my plan for the rear is to put a Dana 60 axle in the rear under the trailing arms with the stock coil spring and also a air bag overload.

The front is where I have the problem. I saw these springs http://www.airbagit-store.com/produc...sp%3Fid%3D2205 but wanted to know if anyone had ever used them.

I am just wanting to raise the truck about 2 inches and have the load capacity to pull the 7000 lbs gooseneck.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

definately if you do anything do not buy from them. Last part I bought from them was 3 inch dropped spindles for my 66 and they sent me disc brake spindles which are totally different and told both my dad and I that all 66 chevy's came w/ disc's and hung up on us and told us if we wanted to send it back it would be a 30 percent restock fee even though it was wrong part. We finally figured them out, they are just POS spindles and aren't for any car. We had to use a file to get them to fit any balljoints and the list of crap goes on and on.

Sparknotes.. Avoid them at all costs.

Shouldn't be too hard to do. I would look for rancho or a company like that for the front springs. If it's not on their site, I'd just call, odds are they can get a pair of front springs w/ 2 inch lift on them pretty easily, and I would just tell them if they ask for motor it's a BB because of the weight

you could also just use stock BB springs with a 3/4" coils spring spacer...

I found that Rancho makes a 1.5" taller coil spring (#RS6500). This spring is listed for the C-10 and C-20 trucks, Blazers and Subs. I called Rancho, the guy could not tell me if they would work for a BB or not. But he did tell me the spring rate for it, 1050 lbs. I thought this seemed like an awful low number.

Does anyone know what the stock spring rate is for 1/2T and 3/4T?

I got to get this nailed down before Christmas so the wife knows which one to get me.

fabtech suspension sells a 3" lift coil for small and big block trucks 73-87 #ftsc104. i am sure they will work since i had coil springs from a 74 in my 69 longbed when i had it.
