Roll pan hidden hitch
Does anyone have a hidden hitch installed behind a roll pan? I need dimensions of a hidden hitch. I have a Class III from a 88-99 truck that I plan to modify to fit my Chevy. After the last towing incident. I need a hitch in the rear. I can insert a bar and have someone else push the truck off the street. Now I'm off to fix the Chevy. Poor truck its been parked outside for almost 1.5 weeks. It should be running by the end of the day through. The city just opened up some new toll rodes! The roads are free for a few more weeks. Nothing but 1/4 miles and top speed runs.

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
I bought a hidden hitch and roll-pan from a guy about 2 weeks ago. It is sitting in the garage.
I will try to get the measurements this weekend.

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
Hey thanks!!
Can you take a few photos? If I can ask, how about a drawing with dimensions. The hitch I have is off a 96 Blazer. It's not straight across either. I may need to find a straight across hitch. Wouldn't sell me the hitch would ya? |

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
I can get some pictures and photoshop the dimensions on the pictures.
If you really wanted I could hen-peck my way through solidworks and make a drawing but it would be painful and take a while. But it would be another learning exercise for me? We use SW but my interaction is basically opening drawings and correcting mistakes to hardware callouts and technical specifications on the drawings. You know, if I could sell my shortbed I would. I keep buying trinket parts like the roll-pan and hitch. Since I won't get my money back for them, I would be willing to sell them seperate. Well, eveything that won't work on my Blazer. But that isn't going to happen anytime real soon. If your not in a hurray I'll keep you in mind.

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
I don't know if the truck hitch would fit the blazer. Check to make sure. I'm in no big hurry, but I would like to find a hidden hitch for my truck. I'll PM you.....I may just offer you enough for more trinkets.

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
I sent you a PM back.
I can get measurements if you like; just let me know what you need. But maybe this will answer your questions. The hitch is made with three formed plates (or flanges?), the two end plates/frame mounts and the center support/safety chain mount. The underside of the center plate is flush with the underside of the end plates. It looks like the bottom of the receiver tube would be flush with the bottom of your frame. If that makes any sense? This picture shows it best. Any more questions I'll try to answer them.

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
Thanks I received and saved the pictures. EYE CANDY!! Sure wish I had one. Right now I have to remove the water pump to get to the timing chain. The 305 may have had it last run.
I sent you back a PM. |

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
I have built them before, not very hard, stronger than factory, and a lot cheaper. The last 1 I built was out of 1" flat plate, cut down to 6"wide with same material for the end flanges, just hold in place to see where it should be and weld it up tight. It weighed 80+pounds and helped with the ride also. Use a flip up plate golder from a camaro or caprice or such and the whole setup cost almost nothing.

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
I have a 96 Blazer hitch available to cut up. My truck already had a flip down plate and cut roll pan from www.mar-k.com. I know they sold roll pan hitches a while back, but they don't sell them anymore. If the 96 is not too much trouble we must cut itup for the bard and use new 1" plates for the mounts.

Re: Roll pan hidden hitch
It would be better to go to a trailer supply store an d buy a new box reciever, they are less than 10$ and give you a fresh start, jus add 2 pieces of plate and your crossbeam(4" c-channel would be easiest to work with) and for overkill, a couple of corner braces.
