Thumbs up my window breaks and I am rewarded with a new tool!

Okay guys.... Let me preface my short story by reminding everyone about the recent disturbing news of surgical devices being "forgotten" inside of a patient during surgery. Here is a link if you have been living under a rock for the past year or so:

related story

So... You can see where I'm headed with this. I had to remove the driver's side door panel today, so I could reset the glass back into the felt track. Needless to say, I was surprised to find this almost-new pair of vice grips hanging securely from one of the rearview mirror nuts:

I figure these were forgotten by the guy who reassembled my truck after it was painted last month.

I'll post a bid to buy those new vice grips. I need them to hold something on my truck.

Good story.

No way am I selling! Up until today, I only had crappy knock-offs made by slave labor in China. Now, I have me an "Original"!

Re: my window breaks and I am rewarded with a new tool!

I have found tools in almost every used vehicle I bought so far. Everything from snap-on tools to junk that was thrown away. The best would be a large(about 14"long) INDESTRUCTABLE flat screwdriver that I have had for 10 years or so and use it as a prybar.

Holy cow! That's some serious obsessive-compulsive organization there. Impressive!

Re: my window breaks and I am rewarded with a new tool!

If my tools were that organized I would never be able to find anything!!
They would take up all 4 walls, floor, ceiling, roof and driveway though.

Re: my window breaks and I am rewarded with a new tool!

That's only 1 wall, there's more on the left and even still a lot more in the right bay, also the shelves are packed with tools and other junk..I like hanging stuff from the walls, easy access and it takes up little space. The spanners there are only the metric open/box end ones, the imperial, double box end, ratcheting types and such are all in the other bay because I use them much more oftten. This is the bay for the truck, I hardly ever wrench on it nowadays..the corvette in the other bay is where all the tools (including pneumatic ones) are

no kidding.

We're on our 4th toolbox not to mention the solvent tank, everything under the benches, and what's already on the wall.

LOL, you better not take them off! They might be holding your whole truck together... ;-0

When I was a kid my dad drove a '66 half-cab bronco and almost never washed it, so it always had a good coating of montana river breaks gumbo mud on it. He always told me that," If I wash it son, It'll fall apart."

The extreme organization is what I was poking fun at, not a tool brag. Your floor is even clean, almost shiny!

Re: my window breaks and I am rewarded with a new tool!

I too have found tools in rigs I have acquired. Screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammers, tail light lenses in bottoms of doors. Thats the reward for driving around for a year trying to figure out what that darned rattle is. Ever find tools left behind at the salvage yard all rusty and/or sticking up out of the dried mud. Those are good finds too. Thats where I shop for hammers and prybars and combination wrenches. LOL
