Granny Low 4spd. Identification
Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could help me identify the manufacturer of the 4spd. in my GMC. I know its not the original tranny, because there still is a column shifter on the steering column. (unless column isn't original)
All I can tell you is reverse is to the right on the shift pattern. I also see two electrical connection thingys towards the front of the tranny. Have no idea what that is. (reverse lights?) There are a few casting numbers, kinda hard to see, I also see a "GM" stamp. thanks for your help. |

Re: Granny Low 4spd. Identification
It sounds like you have a 1966 or newer New Process 435 4-speed trans. Yes that 2 wire thingie is a hookup for reverse lights.

Re: Granny Low 4spd. Identification
cool, thanks for the link.
Judging from the pics and info, i'm positive this one is a SM-465. So how to I make use of that reverse light switch? Just run a power wire, then run the other to the backup light? |

Re: Granny Low 4spd. Identification
Yep. Tap off the fused ignition, so you don't run the battery down.
