Does the vin number contain the rear end ratio number which the chevy truck was built with?? I would like to determine which speedo gear, I need to install in my 80 GMC.

Re: vin no. info

Unfortunately no, all the VIN has is the engine size. If you know your gear ratio, engine and transmission, I can look it up in my GM parts book. GM, in their infinite wisdom, has different combination of gears depending on engine size as well as gear ratio, say for a Turbo 350.
