Difference between swb and lwb-Dimensions and possible conversion

I have a 1962 lwb fleetside and would love to convert it to a short bed....does anybody know if you can do this to a 62 frame....just finished the air ride system and am looking at some options for the truck....

Re: Difference between swb and lwb-Dimensions and possible conversion

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. There is a thread under FAQ's that goes into great detail including pictures. The guy cuts 12 inches under the rear of the cab, and then 8 inches off the rear. It doesn't look terribly difficult if you've got the tools and welding skills.

Cool Re: Difference between swb and lwb-Dimensions and possible conversion

the lwb's bed is 19" deep, 98" long, 50" wide at wheel tubs and 72"wide at bed sides ,the tail gate is 65" wide. the swb's bed is the same but its only 78" longive seen some one do this he cut out 20" from the bed and frame before the wheel well but after the panel by the cab he then tig welded it to gether
