Help!!!
Did the most absolute bone head thing. Durning my 89-91 front end conversion I was going to test the lights and HOOKED THE BATTERY UP WRONG for about 3 SECONDS! The key was OFF. Smoke came up from the center of the fire wall. When I got the whole truck back together It will not start. The dome light, Headlights and horn blows but when you turn on the key nothing happens. It does not buz nor do none of the gauges or radio. I checked the fuse box and everything looks normal. Is there a master fuse or a fuseable link some where? Any help please!

Re: Help!!!
I dont think its the starter because none of the lights (Seatbelt AMPs) in the gauge cluster come on when you turn the key.

Re: Help!!!
Dude dont feel bad done the same damn thing in my 1984 chevy 1 ton dully
Felt dumb too But these is what i did to fix it. There should be a fusable link on the driver side of the engine. It comes from the plate on the back were all the posi. wires go. You should have blown fusable link, or atleast that what happen in my truck. You will have to cut the wiring and put a new fusable link in the wiring. Hope this helps Last edited by Srubydo1986; 02-07-2007 at 08:11 PM. |

Re: Help!!!
Definitely fried a fusible link They are either located on your starter solenoid, right where the positive cable hooks up as well, or just below the junction block right behind the driver's side of the engine Seeing as the smoke came from the firewall, I'd say to pull the wire looming there back to find the fried link

Re: Help!!!
I would also say fusable link probably back by the drives side of engine since the smoke came from the firewall. Hope that fixes it right up.
