Re: anyone else have a 60-66 4x4???
Hello, I'm new here and I have a few questions. I also have a 66 shortbed stepside and would like to know if you switched all the running gear to your 66 chassis or used the 78 chassis? If you used the 78 chassis, how hard was that to do? Also, what year chassis can I put my 66 body on? By the way nice truck!!

Re: anyone else have a 60-66 4x4???
i used my orignal 66 frame and took everything out of the 78 from the leaf springs, trans, transfer case, brake booster, tilt steering. and bolted it right in. I have new drive shaftes made because the 78 was a LWB.

Re: anyone else have a 60-66 4x4???
i originaly owned this truck. i had it set on a 73 lwb chassis, had a 400sbc and a few other goodies, but i couldnt finish it and it went to buddy. 2 more freinds later it was stripped down and almost tossed. no its on a 73 burban chassis with a 350hp 350/th350 witha divorced 205, d44 and 14bff and a flexy suspensoin. this is how i wanted it to look when i had it, it been 5-6 years but it now runs like a mo fo and is getting a tube bed.

I have a 66 snb 4X4. It's all original right down to the shocks. In real good shape, but everything needs cleaned and tightened. I'll try to post some pictures one of these days.

Re: anyone else have a 60-66 4x4???
Here are a couple more of the factory 4x4 Chevy trucks in my collection. The black one is a '66 Chevy K10 with '65 badges. It has a 327 and Turbo 400. The personalized antique license plate reads BCKNBLK. The blue on is a '65 Chevy K20 with an Omaha Standard flatbed. It has a 292 and a SM420 granny low four speed.

Re: anyone else have a 60-66 4x4???
Jerry:
Thanks for the inquiry. I buy/sell/trade '64-'66 Chevy trucks and parts. I am an individual that loves this era of trucks. I do a lot of stuff on these '60-'66 Chevy truck websites and came up the name 4-5-6 Chevy trucks for use on the sites and it has evolved to this. To answer your question, over the past 3 years, I have collected many 4-5-6 Chevy trucks and parts. I enjoy working on them and fixing up the trucks I purchase. I am a commerical general contractor by trade and that is how I make my living. I have met many fellow 4-5-6 Chevy truck guys in the Kansas City area and have done several power steering and power brake conversions on my trucks, as well as their trucks. I am gradually evolving into more of a restoration/repair shop than I originally anticipated. My life-long ambition would be to spend full time working on the '64-'66 Chevy trucks. My aversion to them came about since I began driving a '65 Chevy C10 lwb fleetside when I received my drivers license 26 years ago. I drove one in high school and another one through the college years. I have a '66 Chevy K10 in my shop right now that has been totally disassembled, blasted, epoxy primed and is now ready for paint and reassembly. I met the owner on another Chevy truck website and we have become friends. I am gravitating toward becoming a resto business, specializing in dismanteling 4-5-6 Chevy trucks for parts and restoring them to their original glory. I am not into the all the mainstream trends that are so popular these days. I mainly take them back to stock with used, OEM, NOS and repop parts, factory correct for the era. I consider myself a purist, dedicated to the originality of the era. Based on your signature, it appears you are in the business. Let me know if you have other questions and thanks for the inquiry.
