sectioned crossmember pics
looking for pics of sectioned cross members. i want to section my 84 and im not to sure on where to start.

Heres mine sectioned 1 3/8". If ya do it right you can't even see the seam.

With a 1-3/8" section, do you still have to clearance the steering shaft?

Mine was done by my friend who is a welder/fab guy. He has done a few of these before so i knew it would be done very well. I believe it took him about 7 - 8 hrs total. It is not installed yet. Still sitting in my backyard with a foot of snow on it lol. I'm just waiting to buy some headers and a few other goodies before i pull the motor to install it. I have checked and i am sure that i will have to raise the steering shaft a lil to clear.

you can safely go 1- 1 1/8 inches without hitting the drag link and **** on the LCA u bolts...me and my bro went 1.25 on his truck...but raised all the steering components .5 inches...

When i do mine i plan to take alot of piks and make note of all measurements and such. I'll post it all up later, if someone hasn't first.

my bad guys....pm me if you need to know something cause I dont visit here too often...
cut sides of the frame where the box and idler arm bolted on and raised those pieces of the frame up. Then made fillers. |
