Will These Tires Fit???
So here's a question...
Is it possible to mount a 31x10.5 R15 tire onto the stock 15" rally wheel? If it is, I was thinking of replacing the BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA's on our Pathfinder (daily driver), and putting the used tires - still in pretty good shape - on the truck. I'd love to have the look of the BFG's on the truck, even though it is only 2WD, but I can't justify spending the big bucks on the truck (a second vehicle) at this time. But putting new tires on the Pathfinder and "recycling" the others onto the truck is a possibility. So, would these tires swap? |

Re: Will These Tires Fit???
It depends. There are three different widths of 2wd rallies. 6", 7" or 8". The 6" wheels were mostly found on vans.
If I were going to run a 31x10.50, I'd want the 8" wide wheels.

Re: Will These Tires Fit???
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to take a closer look at the wheels I have. Is the size actually stamped on the rim somewhere, or do I need to measure it. And I assume the 8" is to the inside of the edges of the rim? Or is it simply the outside width?
Thanks again. |

Re: Will These Tires Fit???
I have always been told/gone by the 4" rule.. as long as the wheel is no more than 4" narrower than the wide of the tire you should be fine.
Example: 31x10.50x15 and a 15x7 wheel.. 7+4=11.00 so the 7" wheel is within 4" of the width of the tire (11.50) so it would work fine. I have run 31x11.50x15s on a 15x7" wheel myself on my 82.. but upgraded to 32x11.50x15 on 15x8s. Check the back side of the rim the size should be stamped there. You may have to clean it first to see it.
