Does Anyone Know?

I'm looking for another 85/91 Burb and seem to be finding a lot of them with front bench seats and I want the buckets & console. Does anyone know if the mounting holes for the buckets and console are in the floor even if the Burb originally came with a bench. I'm thinking when they stamp out the floor pan it'd be cheaper for the factory to stamp 2 extra holes in the pan so they could use the same floor pan for the buckets or console instead of inventoring 2 different pans. I've had few Burbs and wanted to crawl under one and look for that but never have.

Wow 30 Views and no replys yet. Looks like I have good question. Considering we are still up to our knees in snow around here and I dont know anyone close with a bench seat Burb, would someoneliving in awarm climate or with a garage be willing to go under their 73/91 front bench Burb and see if they can see if the holes are marked in any way for the buckets and console.

Re: Does Anyone Know?

Hmmm....
I've had one of each, but never checked to see if the buckets & console were a direct fit into the Burb with a bench...
I believe, though, that the console has brackets welded to the floor for mounting, that the bench seat truck wouldn't have. (I could be wrong )
So, my suggestion would be...get your drill handy...

Thanks for your reply.. Drilling the floor to mount the console brackets is no problem.. I am hoping the holes where the buckets would go were punched and reinforced from the factory.. I'm thinking they may have some kind of plug in the holes.

Re: Does Anyone Know?

I just went out and did a quick look-see of the two 2wd Suburbans (with the benchseat) I have in my driveway. One is a 454 rig and the other is a diesel, neither had the bracket for bucket seats that my 85 Suburban has. For the bucket seats, there is a mount welded to the floor, it is for the right front on the driver side and left front on the passenger side of the seats. The only difference is my 85 is a 4x4 diesel so maybe the brackets are there because of the high-hump floor. Couldn't tell if the floors had any markings for the center console. IIRC the center console just bolted to the floor. Hope this helps.

Re: Does Anyone Know?

I am not %100 sure on this as I have not looked at the '88 2wd I am helping to part out since last Wed., but I believe it is similar to a regular cab with buckets; the brackets for the insides of the seat are welded in.

I was going to ask the question of whether the brackets are in fact the same from a truck to a Suburban?

The seats and console were gone when I got to it so I didn't really pay that close attention.

Re: Does Anyone Know?

If it came with a bench, the bucket brackets won't be there. They are welded in for those with that option. They are in fact the same as a pickup.

Re: Does Anyone Know?

Thanks for all the replies guys. Captkaos you told me exactly what I needed to know. Now I'll make sure I find a Burb with the buckets already in it from the factory.
