Critter & Jtrux....

or anyone for that matter......I THINK I might have found what was causing my truck to run so sh*tty. Ya think these had anything to do with it????? So, I changed them out and she's running SOOOOO much better. Started on the first crank...cold even. I'm psyched!!! Here's a video of how it sounded right after I changed them:

Here are pics of the nasty plugs I took out.

Re: Critter & Jtrux....

lol...yeah i bought it almost a year ago and it's pretty much sat there because of lack of funds and lack of motivation. i think in the year i had it prior to this last weekend, i might have started it a total of 10 times. i didn't really put any work into it until recently and then when jtrux and critter AND my BROTHER (there, happy?) came over this last weekend, i really got motivated to do some work and the plugs were first on the list.

Re: Critter & Jtrux....

That's awesome , I guess we won't be having to turn the idle up to get it to idle by itself anymore. I'm glad we were able to come over and help you out, I look forward to cruising around with you some weekend real soon (even though you put Critter THEN Jtrux )

Just messing with you, I understand that you did it to make him feel better about himself.

Check the new ones in a while. That could be age, could be carb adjustment. One looked a bit wet, too.

Re: Critter & Jtrux....

I think a tune up will do you a lot of good. Change those plugs, change the fuel filter, drive it around some and then check them again. Glad to see you are making some progress!

Well the HEI and the wires look new so as long as it's running as good as it it now, I'll just leave them. Fuel filter, tranny fluid and the speedo drive gear that's causing a leak are all next. Then it's time to tackle the body.

Re: Critter & Jtrux....

New plugs may help it now but it looks like you have some other problems that are making the old one look like that. Once the new ones get that black stuff all over them it will run crappy again. New plugs are only a temp fix until you find and fix what was causing them to foul in the first place.

Pretty much where I was going when I said, "don't stop there".

Looks like more fixin' could be in order.

Re: Critter & Jtrux....

I'll take these out in a few weeks and see how the look. Mind you, this thing sat in my driveway for a year and about 2 years before that at the PO's house before I bought it and who knows what kind of care it got before that. I can't speak for anything the PO may have or may not have done so I'll just have to wait and see what happens to the new ones.
