Floor mats or carpet?
My intent was to use a reproduction rubber floor mat for my '67, but I have run into 2 problems. First off, my 67's original floor mat only went back to the edge of the seat. I don't like the way that looks, and my understanding is that the '69-'72 mats went all the way back to the gas tank. I bought a full length mat, but really was unhappy with it. The mat just did not lay down flat, it was made out of some plastic material that was extremly stiff even after laying in the sun for hours, and it had no holes in it for the dimmer switch, ect.. So, I am thinking about going with carpet. Are all the carpet kits full length? Who makes the best one? Thanks, Bob.

Re: Floor mats or carpet?
Hello Bob,
FIrst off I own a 1970 GMC Fleetside LWB. This is where I draw the following source of my information from. I do not know if a 1967 truck carpet kit is full length. A dealer with a toll free # could answer this for you. The carpet kits reqiure work to install as well. Dimmer switch you do the cutting, (there is a plastic type grommet that inserts to make cut neat and finished looking. Carpet goes to the tank with about 16 inches extra length, you do the cutting and the triming. This is great because you get a nice fit to the tank, around the seat belts bolted to the floor and a good fit under kick sill. All exposed edges are finished. I was going to go the mat look but cost is almost as much as carpet in my books thats too much. I ended up going the carpet route with a set of floor mats in carpet that match. Most dealers are getting their carpet from a couple of suppliers. Most carpet kits are good quality and a good dealer will stand behind what they sell. The floor in your 67 might be different then a 69 - 72 and this is why the mat fit was poor. I would confirm this before you purchase a carpet kit. esll.
