Column Ignition keylock
I have a tilt column in my 55 GMC and I need to replace the key lock. How many different locks are there? It was a automatic without the dimmer switch and the indicator is NOT mounted on the column.
I went to a car show and entered the truck and left the keys in the ignition and some a$$ took my keys. I guess that is what I get for trusting people!! Thanks for the help

Re: Column Ignition keylock
If you take the old one out then take it to a NAPA auto parts store they should be able to match it up with the description you posted.

Re: Column Ignition keylock
IIRC, the lock cylinder on the column is pretty much the same piece for tilt/non tilt or with the dimmer or without. Problem is you usually need the key in the lock to be able to remove the lock cylinder from the column.

Re: Column Ignition keylock
No problem there I have a second key but I don't want the a$$ running around with a set of keys to my truck!
Looks like I will need to change the door locks also, but I have another set of doors so I will remove the handles and trade the locks out, after I have keys made!!!! So what you are saying is all the lock cylinders are the same for GM's!
