Our 85's heart transplant... plenty of pics...
This weekend we put a 'new' motor - rebuilt 305 - bored 30 over, comp cams extreme 4x4 cam, valve springs and double roller timing chain... and of course, a nice paint job, in our 85. The old one looked like no one ever changed the oil. We decided to replace it when we found a piece of a piston skirt in the oil pan when we replaced the oil pump.
The old motor: Scarey thing is, she could still chirp a tire with that sludgy ol' 305... The new motor: Also, I don't think I've posted pictures of the truck either, so here it is:

Re: Our 85's heart transplant... plenty of pics...
Thanks guys, it is running really good... unfortunately, after the cam break-in and first drive the gas tank went, so it sat for a few days until we got a new one. Put the new one in yesterday and took it for a good drive.
Grande Rojo, I think that comp cam was a good fit for this motor... since it is a 305 in a heavy truck with 2.73s, it needed more low end power and torque. It does pull hills better now. BaddBusa2005, the seat was in it when we bought it... the guy said it was from his 67-72 chevy C10.

Awesome looking new motor. Looks like the old motor had almost as much oil on the outside as the inside. Nice looking truck too.
