Did they make 3/4 ton 4x4 crew cabs?
Someone told me they only came in 1 ton. I'm looking at a mid 80's crew cab 4x4 SRW to part and want to know what it is before I approach the guy.
What is an easy way to identify it as a 1 ton or 3/4 ton? The fender tags are missing. Thanks for any help! Last edited by BBC Beater; 05-30-2007 at 10:42 PM. |

The front axle...It will be a Dana 60 if its a 1 ton.3/4 will be a 10 bolt.I'v seen a crew cab with a dana 44.But I dont think it was the right one.Someone just took the good axle out and put in the dana 44.There might have been 3/4 ton Crew Cabs.I don't know for sure

Thanks, and yeah the only valuable part to it would be the dana 60 axle, it's pretty beat up.

Oh, and I don't know how to identify the axle... I've also heard by the mid 80's 3/4 tons were using 10 bolt axles.

The axle will have 60 on the lower drivers side corner by the diff cover.
And you are right. They did have 10 bolts on the 1/2 (3/4 ton too?).It's late...I miss typed.Look in the 4wd section. There is pics of Dana 60s Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 05-30-2007 at 11:03 PM. |

A typical older 60 has kingpin bearings instead of ball joints. Easily identified by the 4- bolt covers instead of a single nut on a ball joint.
