You'll never guess 50 bucks went so far....
I found a bunch of parts for a 1964-66 chevy p/u on craiglist. This guy had a grille, dash cluster w/gauges, Custom cab outside trim, the fancy steering wheel horn ring, front turn light assemblies (including lenses and bezels), 1 rear tailight (with 2 bezels) an original GM windshield with no cracks, or scratches or seperation of layers, and all of the aluminum window trim! He had it posted for everything but the window and trim for 100 bucks, I got everything except the grille (it was already gone) for 50 bucks!
SCORE!!!!

Re: You'll never guess 50 bucks went so far....
Im looking at a 63 Short step for 500 running and driving... but heres the great part... I dont know how many of you guys drive Volvos, or like Volvos, but I like to think that I have the 2 most reliable and versatile vehicles ever created, an old Chevy pickup, and a Volvo 245 wagon. A guy on craigslist just gave me the keys and title for a 72 Volvo 145 wagon for free! All I have to do is go get it. He says the engine is bad... like cracked block, blown rod etc... which for me is like... pfffffft ja, like I care about that. It will be a relatively easy fix, even if the engine block needs replacing. I was thinking about modding it to look like a miniature version of my current truck, or just turn it into an ancient Subaru Baja type thing.

Is there any way to search all of craigslist or do you always have to search individual cities?

Cities only I think, but they are normally from the surrounding area. Ive have seen posts from WA in the Salem ads.

Re: You'll never guess 50 bucks went so far....
Hey Raiden, that's essentially my combo too. Right now it is 64 C10, 86 740 sedan, and 88 740 wagon. Did you see that 72 142 with B230 engine recently on craigslist? I'd like to have that one, I saw it in a parking lot about a year ago, pretty sweet. My best Volvo deal was an 80 240 I bought for $325 and drove almost 6 years with only tires and brake pads invested, mecahnical fuel injection finally died, I didn't feel like messing with it so gave the car away.
You keep digging up interesting things on craigslist, I'm gonna have to start giving it more attention. |

Re: You'll never guess 50 bucks went so far....
I am on there all the friggin time, it sickens me how much I am on there, but I have all that I have because of it, so I'm gonna continue to be sickened. Speaking of which, I just found another 63 LWB, no motor or trans but the body looks straight and the guy wants 800 obo. For me, I am THE cheepo of cheepos. I have never paid more than 700 bucks for a car, and that was the most expensive car Ive ever purchased.
My 65 C10 is my 12th vehicle in the last 2 years. But Im going to keep it.
