Ideas best battery location custom 57?
I am working on my wiring and I am trying to decide the best place to locate the battery on my 57 Custom project. I figure there are different opinions but with the wealth of experience here in this forum I figure I would ask. I want everything under the hood clean no battery and minimal wires showing. I am mounting the ECM for the TPI under the passenger seat and all the relays are going in the back corner behind the passenger seat. Here are some of my thoughts any comments or new ideas appreciated I am thinking I will use an Optima battery.
1. Behind the passenger seat (very crampt) 2. Under the truck between the frame and the left step. (Not very accessable) 3. Under the bed front right corner. Will have to build an access door. 4. other ideas? |

I'd put it on the frame behind the step. Get a s/s drop down box from Brothers or build your own set up.
Truck looks good. Any more pics? Brian ...

how much room do you have up under the dash? if you go with an optima you can mount it upside down.

I used the dropped box, it works great! Mine came from CCP. From the picture you posted it looks like you have a nice truck. Could you post a few more pictures?

Thanks for all the input guys! Just what I was looking for I especially like the CPP drop out box. I looked it up on there website. It is a little pricey seems I always have more time then $$$$$. Thinking how I might make my own? I have some pictures on a website here since you asked

I read thru your project thread and saw you did in fact run your exhaust past the battery. I also saw (like I have) it is very close to your brake booster and mst cylinder. Was therre ever any concerns about heat problems with either of these? I have block hugger headers but like the looks of the ones you used where did you get them? Mark, We just got one of the drop boxes from CPP. It is really simple and I would think you could fab up something.
