Tank removal....
Anybody got a link for the fuel tank removal protocol for the square bodies?
75 Jimmy 4wd. Also, how much does the tank weigh dry, and how long y'all reckon it would take? Will probably be doing it by myself. Thanks SLIMJIM

It "might" weight 10lbs empty.
Unbolt the filler neck, if you can, remove the filler tube, remove the 2 rear straps and lower it down. Make sure the vent hose gets removed and the sending wire is disconnected before letting it hit the ground.

The tank itself , empty, weighs maybe 30 - 35 lbs. I just had that done myself --- the mechanic removed the skidplate, then disconnected the fuel filler neck , the fuel lines and then the tank straps and it drops out. The mechanic told me the hardest part was removing the skidplate. the tank was a 31 gallon unit.
Procedure for mine was a little different because it had a fuel pump in the tank. It took an hour and a half ----- therefore i guessed it would have taken me 2 or 3 hours on my own |

I had to do mine to replace the intank pump a few months ago and it had half a tank of gas (couldn't find a working siphoning kit)... it all worked out anyways, I just put a floor jack under it and slowly dropped it down, laid it on some 2x4s, replaced the pump and raised it back up... took me and my lack of experience about 1 full day (12 hours) of doing it.
