Does anyone know if Petronix or any one else make a electronic ignition convertion for the chevy straight six (250 in this case)?
I looked on Pertronix's website and didn't find much info on applications. I need to convert my point dist because I have an after-market a/c system on the truck and an hei won't fit because of where the compressor is mounted.

I'm sure Pertronix makes a conversion for that application. I ran one on my sile '72 Z I had for 7 years. The first lasted a year and was replaced under warranty. The next went 6 and was still going good when I sold the car. My current red '72 has points. While doing a compression check I didn't disconnect the ignitor and it burned up.

it was out of the two year warranty... All in all a good product I though. Car started a lot easier and had a significantly smoother idle.

Yes, they do. You can even get one for the 216/235/261 series. I found the best price from my local mom & pop parts store. You need a good distributor to put it in, too. If your's is worn, best to put in a rebuild. You can also go the small cap HEI route, it should clear since the cap isn't much bigger than the points style.

Check with Summit, they have em. get there coil too. It has the proper resistance for the pickup. Those kits work great.
