Rims & Tires on, Need new tire size opinions! BEWARE: Lotsa Pics!!!
Ok, I test fitted the rims on ones side of my truck to get an idea of which way I should go with tire size, and I'm thinking taller tires front and back.
Current tire sizes: Front: 245/45/17 Back: 275/50/17 For new tires I'm thinking Front: 255/50/17 Back: 275/55/17 I forgot to add, the rim sizes are 17x9 for the front, and 17x10 for the back. Would I be able to run a 255/50/17 on the front? But finding fronts in that size is rather hard does anyone else know a tire size that would be similiar and easier to find? Wow, those 17's look tiny compared to the Ralleys, but yeah I agree some new tires with some sidewall instead of rubber bands should fill those wheel wells
How about some pics of the Ralleys and 17's side by side and front to back to see the difference in size, trucks looking good |

I have 275's all the way around, if I could do it all over i'd have the 275's on the front and the 295 or 305 on the rear.

Re: Rims & Tires on, Need new tire size opinions! BEWARE: Lotsa Pics!!!
So you guys think a 275/50/17 on the front rims (that are 9" wide) and a 305/60/17 on the back rims (that are 10" wide)? I'm having trouble finding a 305 for a 17" rim... I dont really have a clue as to the back space, but for the rear rims I had to buy a spacer to kick them out 1.25" because they rubbed on the inner bed side.

Those wheels really cleaned up nice. I didn't like them until I saw them on your truck. I like fat tires all around with some sidewall too. Lookin good!

I like the way a 255/50 275/50 combo looks. The NITTO NT 450s arent terribly expensive.

That does look nice, I think a 275/60 would look a little meaner though, I'm pretty sure I'm going 255/50 front and 275/60 rear.

Re: Rims & Tires on, Need new tire size opinions! BEWARE: Lotsa Pics!!!
my rallies rubbed too.i liked em but, some rub others get away with it.mine hit where the bottom of the ball joint goes in.i put on 17's and cured it.i never have had any rubbing with my hopsters.they are 4 in. backspace.minus 11 offset.but, they are 8 inch wide all around.i'm not sure if stepside fenders have less or more room? some guys will grind inner fender lip on rear fleets.my fronts are 225/55/17 and the rears are 275/55/17 toyo proxes st's.which iv'e been happy with.no matter which way you go the truck's looking sharp man.

Classic87' was running a 275/60/17 on the back of his truck it looked good
And a 255/60 on the font, just my opinion but it was a wee bit too tall Last edited by Rc 415; 08-16-2007 at 08:32 PM. |

Rc, I know you're looking for more sidewall than less, but 255/45-17s are pretty cheap on discounttiredirect.com and aren't too rubber-bandy (IMHO). That's that's going on my Chevelle here in the next few weeks on 17x8 wheels.

Re: Rims & Tires on, Need new tire size opinions! BEWARE: Lotsa Pics!!!
HAVE 17X8 WITH 255X17,S ON THE FRONT OF MY 84 & IS LOWERED BOUT THE SAME AS YOURS. TIRES SCRUB ( i THINK LOWER CONTROL ARM WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN ) iTHINK WITH 17X 9,S ON THE FRONT WOULD BE A LITTLE MUCH. WITH 17X9 RIMS YOU PROBABLY SHOULNT GO OVER 245X17 TIRE SIZE UNLESS YOU HAVE TUBULAR CONTROL ARMS . HOPE THIS HELPS . LIKE YOUR TRUCK BY THE WAY
