New enough....in mt
Hey... been here a little while as a lurker. I found the board while doing research on the porterbuilt dropmember. It seems to be quite popular and I must say I love mine.
Currently I'm building a 1972 C-10 Suburban. It belonged to the parents of a close friend. He was conceived and delivered in it. His family moved from texas in it. I originally approached them after seeing a burb called "sublow". It's a green and silver 'burb with 10" bobbed out of the tail. At that time I was asking for a friend since I wasn't in the market. His dad would have none of it. About a year later the friend hinted that I should call his dad. After talking to his dad on the phone he told me he would sell it only to me on my word that I would make something of it ( i owned a custom shop at the time) and would never sell it to anyone. His asking price was$250 to buy x-mas gifts for his family and I had to agree to his terms and drive 180 miles to get it. At the time I mostly did it to give him the x-mas cash(gave him $500). Most of the body needs work and I sold the motor to someone doing a resto since I have a new FI 350 but it's a really solid start. That was about 5 years ago. Presently the burb is getting frame and suspension. Dropmember using ART strong arms and McGaughey's 2" spindles is done. Can't say anything that hasn't already been said better about Nathan at Porterbuilt. As someone with a welding engineering degree and previous owner of a shop specializing in air ride I think I'm qualified to say his work is top notch. My next stage will be the rear suspension and drivabilty before moving to body. I hope to start a build thread with pics soon. look forward to meeting even more cool members of the board. Re: New enough....in mt
if I can figure how to post I'll throw up some pics starting from when I first got it. It was a typical field dweller when I came to own it.
