20"x10" backspacing
I am going to run 20x10 wheels on the rear of my 1971 truck. The rear suspension is Air Ride Technologies strong arm kit. I have cut the floor of the bed to allow for additional drop and c-notched the frame. I am not sure what backspacing to run on these rims. I think 6" backspace should be good, I need the wheels tucked to allow the bed to clear the wheels. Also, what is the widest tire I can run on a 10" wide wheel? A 275, 285 or 295?

Thanks for your quick response, I have 295/40zr20's, but I think they are too wide to stuff up into the wheel well when the truck is completely lowered.

Re: 20"x10" backspacing
I have 20x10 with a 4" BS, I am going to have to cut shorten my rear to 62". I am also running 295/40s on the rear. Hope this gives you an idea.

Re: 20"x10" backspacing
Thanks everyone who has replied. I just didn't think a 295/40zr20 would fit up into the stock wheel wells, once I air the truck down. I know the tread width is 12" on a 295/40zr20. I really dont want to modify the wheel wells to fit these tires into them. I want to wheel well lip to go down over the tire and onto the rim without any tire rubbing.

Most guys that have significant drops (+6") either mini-tub or notch the outer arch of the wheel-well if they want to roll on 10" wide wheels. I had 8" wide ralleys on my 68 w/4" of BS & approx 8" of rear drop. There's no way I could have added 2+ inches to the outside edge of the wheel/tire combo w/o the wheel-well arch interfering. I was also already buzzing the inner wall of the wheel tub..... so I couldn't have gone that direction either. I opted for a mini-tub to fit 10's. I'll 'clearance' the outer wheel-well arch as needed in order to achieve the best look (I don't like the rears tucked in farther than the fronts).
