How does the upper center tailgate trim attach (item number 2 in the picture)?

The studs on this trim piece are not threaded, and access to the back side is questionable around the tailgate handle.

I'm trying to add this trim to a truck that didn't have it originally.

Barrel nuts... The ones you put in and they expand once the studs go through.

A body/paint supply house...called "speed nuts",too.How are you fastening the two outer/upper moulding pieces?

I have the clips which snap into holes in the tailgate (item C in the picture).
