fake wood exterior(tape) came original in what early 70's burbs?
I want to restore a 1963-1980 Burb for my growing family and I was wondering if any of you know what year/years burb came w/ this fake wood center panel oringinally. I did some web serching and found only 1973. I want to restore it to original w/ the exception of replacing fake wood w/ real wood. Any link or help would be a great help. Thanks

instead of real wood that'll rot away in a few years or a cheap vinyl sticker that'll peel away even sooner find a good custom paint shop and have the wood paneling painted on!!!!
Down side = the almighty cubic dollar

My '77 had it, but it's gone now. There are still remnants of it under the taillights and inside edges of the doors...

Re: fake wood exterior(tape) came original in what early 70's burbs?
Because the idea of a woody in the chevy 70's was there, but fake and I want to make it real. The idea came when I wanted to buy and restore a real beach woody and was very down and out to find that a fixer upper = 50K and done =100K+. I'm a GMC/chevy man and that same day I seen an old lady pull in next to me at the grocery store parking lot w/ one of those mid 70's fake/tape wood burb. and fell in love. White oak treated well, metal fab. inset work to have it flush and clean blend at the front signal lights. Original trims. California familiy beach ride. I'm waiting to score one. peace

Here's our new family ride. couldn't pass it up. The inside is wore out. I hope my wife can learn to get use to driving it w/ our 3 boys. Orig. 3 on the tree 305. $4500 instead of 20-30K on a new one. plus I like this better.

Good looking Burb. I feel you need to rethink yoyr plan to put wood on it. I don't see it looking good on that body style at all.
