Red face My see ten wannabe pics!

Let me first say that I realize these pics aren't remotely close to being see ten worthy, but seeing his pics has set me on fire to start taking pics of my trucks in front of cool backdrops and old buildings. My elcheapo camera is not up par, and I realized after seeing my big shadow in several that I gotta long way to go. I also know I gotta get my drop springs ordered to rid of the redneck rake, and I gotta lose the pizza cutter tires!

With that being said, I was coming home today and when I passed the dam, I realized I had my camera in the truck. I stopped off and took a few pics, but it was that time of the evening that looks funky and it has been cloudy all day also. I love the way this place looks in the Spring before it grows up, and I will definitely be going back when the truck is ready and I get better camera. I guess my favorite is the front shot in front of the old powerhouse. Anyway, I hope ya'll enjoy!

BTW, the trees on the other side are in Georgia, because the dam is across the Chattahoochee!

Good job! The way to making a few good shots is first taking a lot of bad ones! I take tons of em that I end up deleting just to come up with the few that i share on here form time to time. Keep it up!

Oh, it is definitely a cool place for a picnic. Here is an arial shot of the dam. It's the only I've ever seen that is boomerang shaped. I marked when my truck was sitting ove here on the Alabama side.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!

Those are some nice pictures, I think you east coasters have a lot better back drops than the west coast. I to like see tens pictures, infact the one of the green 4x4 with the hills in the background on a gravel road is is my screen background.

With a little color fixin' they look even better - but man - that is one nice truck!
I love it! I would absolutely love to have a truck like that! Stock height and all. Only reason I am going to lower mine is because it is so far from that it don't matter. That truck just looks like a truck should.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!

I played with the one I like best as well. Take a look at your pics and note your mistakes. Next time you venture out remember the mistakes and improve on them. It's hard to get a great background, good lighting, and the perfect angle every time.

Here's a few tips I have learned from the pro's.

The hours right after sunrise, or right before sunset are great for shooting automotive subjects.

Make sure your subject is the primary focus in your picture. Backgrounds should be secondary.

Always watch for tall objects that will appear to be "growing" out of the vehicle.

When shooting angles, a good 3/4 view is the "money shot". A good example is the pic below. If you had taken one step to your right, and had the wheels slightly turned so the rim was exposed, this would be a classic 3/4 view.

You're bang on N2TRUX... This is something I picked up from looking at seeten's pictures. The other thing I learned from looking at other good photos is to get down to the level of the truck. The lower angle also improves the look of the shot IMO. Here is, what I hope, is a decent example of what I'm talking about.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!

Ok, I couldn't help it. I stopped back by there today, and got some more these are a little, but now instead of being too light, they are a little dark. I also snapped one in front of the old Glass Church on Whitesmill Road. This is the oldest church in our area, and dates back to circa 1830. Fairfax is the name of the town now, but it used to be Glass, AL. There are some awesome old farm houses on that road that I may use later!

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!

Good job the first time and even better the 2nd time around! I shoot a lot of low shots but I'm trying not to get stuck in a rut and have tried a couple from a higher angle.

There is some great info in this link on shooting digital photography. Yeah it's from a different forum that doesn't cater to the Ol truckers but the applications will be the same.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!

Thanks for the link see ten. It is very informative! When you do the shots from aboe the truck, are you standing uphill, or are on something? They look great, and I agree it is great to mix it up.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!

Looks good . I like the shot in front of the church. The sharp contrast in color helps make the vehicle stand out. The only subject that has much color in that picture is your truck so it immediately jumps out at you. Maybe it's because there isn't so many distractions in the background???
