Carb or tbi
I am debating on putting a new carb on my truck or switching to tbi. I have a 402 and have almost all of the stuff to convert to tbi. It will cost about the same either way I go, but I am still not sure. I have converted a few vehicles to fuel injection and have had really good luck with it, I am not sure why I am hesitating, but something keeps holding me back. What do you think? Thanks

Re: Carb or tbi
I am putting the TBI setup in my 67 and my 69 trucks. I like the looks of it and it is some what easy to do. I also still have an extra intake and computer from a 1991 Suburban that had a 454 with TBI that I sold the motor but kept the TBI and computer.

Re: Carb or tbi
it all depends on what you are going to do with it, if you are looking for performance the carb would usually be better but if you drive it everyday i would go with the TBI. I put a TBI and 700r4 combo in my 67 daily driver and i will never ever go back to a carb. just my 2 cents

Re: Carb or tbi
For a driver, I'd go with TBI also...

Re: Carb or tbi
if you want some performance but still want a TBI. There are a couple guys on 454ss.com the modify the 454 throttle bodies, and they flow 750+ cfm. So then you can have your cake and eat it.

Re: Carb or tbi
You do that, or buy the Holley 670 cfm throttle body, and have the chip flashed. I put a 350 in place of a 305 TBI in '89 RS Camaro years ago. It ran really good, but the 454 throttle body is capable of more cfm if modified than the Holley 670 is. I made a phenolic spacer on a CNC mill that smoothed the transition from from the 2" butterflies on the 670 throttle to the 1.56" bores in the factory intake. The best way to go is with an aftermarket intake with the bigger bores, but mine did perform well with the spacer.
