I Just purshased my brothers truck(1970 lwb) it has a later seat in it 88+ style. It seams crowded. It is on the stock tracks(88+ tracks) and it seams high and too far fowared. it there any thing I can do to gain more room? I thought of chopping the tracks and having it reupolstered with less foam but I would like other ideas..Thanks

well there are many different options i have the same deal in my 72GMC and you can go with a different colum or lowered brackets or you might get you a set of seats from a car like a z24 or cavalier thats about all i can suggest

I have around a 1990 style 60/40 (no headrests) that I thought sat too high as well and I really wanted the back of the seat even with bottom of the rear window. I cut about 1.5" out of the center of the brackets and it's just about right. (actually 1.5 out of the rear and 1.25 out of the front of the bracket which gave it a little more "tilt").

Most of the trucks I see with these style seat mount them at a tilt (not flat to the floor). The set the front of the bracket on the rib that runs from side to side. I sat the front of my bracket right at the edge of that rib, so it sets flat against the truck floor. They fit really well now.

Bottom line is that there is not alot of leg room in these trucks for taller folks.

I installed a seat out of a 97 Chev truck and did as SactoJim mentioned... The front of the bracket is installed on the raised portion of the floor then I fabricated a bracket for the back that bolts to the seat and into the factory hole. Installed like this it fits and feels much better... the seat has a bit of a recline to it which makes it more comfortable and it brings the back of the seat down so it is not sticking up into the back window.

My tank is relocated to the rear. I will try to post some pics tonight when I get home.

You have to be carefull with tilting the seat.....the more you tilt it the less leg room you will have because the seat back tilts back and hits the back of the cab.

I put the 77 seat in mine. It sat lower. I used the bracket out of the 77. Seems to me that it sits good for me.

I was planning on putting in a bench out of a late model truck like 90's stylebut it was approx 4 inches shorter width than the stock seat .. any problems with this that any of you guys have had?

I saw a set of 03 siverado seats in one of our trucks. Some one on this board has them. The cool thing is the seat belts are installed in the seats already.

I have a pair of`92 low-back buckets I think I`ll chop the brackets on.Great idea.Those 60/40s look nice in there.My buckets are basically like two driver`s seats.

I have a 70' LWB Fleet and I stuck to the factory seat as I've never been a big fan of swapping seats from another vehicle.
