S-10 Transformation has begun
last saturday i started by removing the body from a 1997 GMC Sonoma. i cut the frame from the front bumber bracket 9 1/2" towards the back.
today i have sat the 47 chevy body on the s10 frame. [/ATTACH] the body is mounted 2 " from the s10 frame. the rear of the front fender and running boards will be 7"s off the ground. im working on a step by step guide how to mount a 47-53 body to an s10 chasis. Re: S-10 Transformation has begun
sounds like he is "puting together" a step-by-step manual great start so far keep the pic's rolling and document the bad with the good. in my research the swap is a very practical one. the track width in front is good, the rear is too narrow but a simple swap to a s-10 4x4 rear takes care of that.

Re: S-10 Transformation has begun
yea, and what about wheelbase? does the s-10 frame need to be shortened/lengthened to make the stock bed fit over the rear axle?

Re: S-10 Transformation has begun
im glad to see that people are interested in this build, im putting the truck completely together then im going to take it back apart and make a step by step guide. ive been working alot of hours at work. to start with i set the cap 2" above the s-10 frame with 2" tubing, i did ron into a probelm with mounting the bed. i welded 1 1/2" tubing (instead of the 2" factor bed supports). here are some pics. let know what you all thank about this build. oh by the way this truck has the mid-size bed and an EXTENDED cab is 1" short on the wheelbase but i made that up with distance between the cab and the bed.

Re: S-10 Transformation has begun
almost forgot about the rearend. I removed the s-10 rearend and bought a mid 70's camaro rearend for $100.00 at local junk yard. ok here is the part your not going to beleave i used the s-10 backing plates and brakes on the camaro rearend. the factory brakes from the s-10 bolted up with no modifcation, just bolted right up.

Re: S-10 Transformation has begun
That's strange. 11/30/08 was his last post. Not sure what activity means. Maybe he added that pic of the Camaro then?
