Three-On-Tree Linkage Question
Does anyone have a photo of the shift linkage at the transmission for a column-shifted 3-sp. manual? I need to know how the shift levers that attach to the transmission are oriented, i.e. do they point straight up when in neutral position, or straight down, etc. This would be on a fully-synchro Saginaw 3-sp, which I think applies to all 67-72.

Re: Three-On-Tree Linkage Question
Not sure if you can make it out on the pic, but they point down... Sorry it's the only pic I have.

Re: Three-On-Tree Linkage Question
question, since the 6cy motor is mounted further up, would the 8cy 3speed be mounted closer to the front of the truck then? If so are there different mounts to easily move it up? say like the 6cy and 8cy position motor mounts. but for tranny's?

I believe that since the 6 cylinder is longer, there's no difference in the distance of the linkage/transmission mounting. It's been many years since I converted mine so my memory is foggy. Someone else that has recently done this would know for sure. |

Re: Three-On-Tree Linkage Question
I am actually working on a 64 C10. I switched it over from 230ci I6 to a 350 V8. I did NOT change the frame mounts nor motor mounts, and the bellhousing and transmission are still in the original locations. It was a very simple swap.
I am now swapping the old non-synchro Saginaw, which is really not built to withstand the torque of a 350, to a later all-synchro transmission, hence my request for photos. I've got to sort the linkage out for the later transmission. I am retaining my column shift. |
