Re: haeders
I have a set of Hookers on my '65 with a small block.. they are full length with 2.5" collectors rather than the normal 3" collector.
I am fixing to pull my engine for a re-ring and bearing job and will either install some ramhorns or Hedman hedders. I found the only way to get the Hookers to seal were by cutting the head flanges and using Fel-Pro gaskets exclusively. |

Re: haeders

Re: haeders
No, the headers do not have a clearance issue with the frame, motor mounts or crossmember but I did have to dimple one tube to clear the stock clutch linkage (bell crank specificially). The worst part is that the routing of plug wires is tricky and the adjuster for the clutch snakes though the header.

Re: haeders
I run a set of Hooker 2452 headers. Had to do some clearancing for clutch and at least one plug...what else is new. They haven't leaked even once in 5+ years, best headers I've ever had.

Re: haeders
What was involved in the clearanceing and the plug? I have rams-horns and an auto, but I want to switch to a manual and headers. According to the headers I have seen, they don't fit manual trans 60-66 chevies.

Re: haeders
Didn't have to do any cutting on the full length bigblock headers in my K10. I don't remember the name of the headers but call http://www.summitracing.com and tell them what you have and they will head you in the right direction.

Re: haeders
Am running Sanderson block huggers and had to cut the side off the driver side motor mount. Just a small amount for clearance, didn't have to remove, just used a torch. When I replaced the engine just dressed it up a little before reinstalling. I had Hedman regulars and didn't like them dragging all the time, since I have a 4/6 lowered truck.

Re: haeders
Sanderson Headers 3/4 length. This particular header was designed to fit lowered 67 - 72 trucks and therefore no mods are necessary. For gaskets I use Permatex Ultra Copper.

Hi there Kris, The Sanderson headers [ECE's part #11 - 6572] were $379.00 bucks. Let me say though they are quality from the get go. I have two phone #s .... 1.) Order line - 888 - 777 - 0395 2.) Tech line - 559 - 299 - 1611 I hope this helps. These #s will get you in touch with ECE who is a dealer for Sanderson and their price is better then going direct to Sanderson. esll. ![]()
