Another KP notch post... Need advise from those who have one..
So I have read all KP notch post form days, months and years gone past and I still have some questions...
I order a KP notch this week and need to know what is the best shock location/set up to run??? I am running stocktrailing arms and bags in the stock spring location... Second question, What did you do with the panhard bar?? New mounts? where? Third question, I am running a 2 inch block and a 29" tall tire.. How much of the notch you think I'll need??? Should I cut it down a little?? Thanks!

Re: Another KP notch post... Need advise from those who have one..
Alright! All your questions consolidated into one post. I'll bite.
Shocks- Everyone seems to have their own way of doing it. KP has an adjustable under axle bracket, suicidedoors has some similar. I didn't think that there would be enough length with them so I am going to try using stock trailing arm mounted lowers and put the upper mounts on the notch crossbeam. Panhard- ECE or CPP super or whatever they call their full length bars these days. Stock frame mount on driver's side and trailing arm mounted on passenger's. Put the mount under your block. Notch height- you would need the full 8"(and probably a little more) to lay frame on a 29" tire. I cut mine down to about 6" with a 3" block and the axle will hit the bumpstops just as the bags are fully deflated. You should be safe taking around 2" off the notch. I would measure to be sure. Where are the pics of this new project?

Re: Another KP notch post... Need advise from those who have one..
This is what I did....I used the original lower mount, moved it forward one hole (on the u-bolt).
I ran shocks off of the notch....drilled and tap for the shock mounts. Worked out great. In this set-up, I am also running the bags in the stock location, however I have set this up so with bags removed, and the axle bottomed out in the notch, there is still plenty of shock travel, from compressed to a fully extended bag state. I wanted the shocks mounted at the axle, straight up and down, as they are more efficent this way...Here are some pics You can see the rest of the build by clicking the second link in my sig.. - - - The shocks are working perfect...plenty of clearance. I am going to drill and tap extra holes for adjustment location of the upper shock mount. This top hole is to be used if we ever go with a 'canti' set-up in the rear. The hole we will be using is actually going to be 3" lower...this will allow max lift with the bags in the stock location (the way were running it) You can run a panhard...but in this case we are running a stout Watts... Also, as I mentioned, we are running the bags in the stock location, with 2" blocks....and the axle will never up that notch...I cut it down considerably. With the bags deflated (3") The top of the axle is about half way up into where the originall frame would of been. I could of cut the notch down even more, but just in case we go with a lever system in the future, well be able to use it.
