The paint code on my glove box door just says special. I dont know what is special about it it's all one color, light blue. Can someone educate me on what it means?

Re: Special Paint?
probably just an off color, a shade not provided under the normal options provided by the truck assembly line.

Re: Special Paint?
Some very nice options on that spid.
Is the oil bath and overdrive still there?

Re: Special Paint?
Ya it's 100% complete and original. It was parked since the 80's until I picked it up a couple months ago. The only things that had been changed on it were the filters, battery and tires.

Re: Special Paint?
Would it say special because the interior is a different color than the ext? I've got the radio I just took it out to work behind the dash easier.

Re: Special Paint?
nope, no foot in mouth, you are absolutly right. unless otherwise optioned the int was fawn in 67. just like the fact the heater was listed on the SPID... even though it was standard... another 67 only item.

I think the special paint is becouse of the odd color combo. you could get any 2 colors for the 2 tone, but white was the normal recomended color that GM would use as the defult. Another odd thing, there is no paint color listed on that spid at all. Yet another oddity, the 4.11 rear gear is automatic with the overdrive tranny, yet they listed it. |

Re: Special Paint?
Wasn't the overdrive just something in the tail housing? The transmission would be just a regular 3-speed, with the overdrive added to it. OD should work in any gear, or it used to be that way.
Late-model OD transmissions were just modified 4-speed gearboxes. Older 4-speed transmissions, like the SM420 and SM 465, were granny-low gearboxes without any synchronizers on first and second. Seems like one of the new features of the '67's was the fully-synchronized 3-speed. I don't know if the '67 OD transmission was based on the "new" gearbox, or on the prior-year models gearboxes.

Re: Special Paint?
I know it kinda looks like it in the picture but it really is one color the bottom is just less sunbeat than the top. The overdrive looks to be a seperate unit attached to the trans.
