Hey guys,
Can anyone help me identify the year and model of this truck? I attached some pictures. Let me know if you need any more.

Re: Need help identifying truck
That looks like the same color as my 86 silverado.. With the four headlights I am thinking it might be a sierra grande... Same as silverado really, probably 86 or 87.. Im sure someone will be able to correct/verify that for sure!!

Re: Need help identifying truck
Isn't that a gas cap sticking out on the passenger side? If so then the bed is 73-77 or 78.

Re: Need help identifying truck
Could be an 85-87 GMC judging by the grill providing that it hasn't been changed at some point. Looks like the front fenders have either been changed to 89-91 or the emblem holes have been filled.
Looks like a mix and match of parts by the looks of it. The bed is off of a 1978 or earlier truck. You can tell by the round gas cap. 79 and later had a fuel access door. ...Joe

Re: Need help identifying truck
A couple of other things that would help narrow down the actual year would be the axles and transfer case. If it has a 10 bolt rear, 10 bolt corporate front, and an aluminum 208 transfer case, it's likely to be an 81 and up. 12 bolt rear, Dana 44 front, and either a 205 or 203 cast iron transfer case would indicate 77 or earlier. It could possibly be an earlier truck that has had a cab swap done. The drivetrain would give you a better idea of the actual year. ...Joe

Re: Need help identifying truck
As indicated above, the real year would be the VIN #. The VIN number on the frame will give the true year of the chassis, no matter what year cab has been swapped on. ...Joe

Re: Need help identifying truck
Going just off the body I'd say its a 73-78 with an 81+ front clip.
The bed, cab and doors are faded to match where as that front fender is much brighter indicating a newer replacement. The front fender is definitely an 81+ because of the orientation of the turn signal and the grill with quad headlights. The bed is 73-78 because of the previously noted gas filler. In 78-79 GM moved to fuel doors instead of gas caps on the outside. Although I have a factory 76 with fuel doors. Of course a quick check of the VIN would clarify everything. |

Re: Need help identifying truck
The VIN is on the dash, driverside. On the frame for older models, driverside near the #3 and #5 cylinders.

Re: Need help identifying truck
I found the VIN number and looked it up. Turns out it's a 1986 K10 Pickup truck. Cheers to everyone who helped me out.
