Questions on a 72 Jimmy
I have the chance to pickup a 72 jimmy for a really low price. Got to go look at it today. He says it's really rusted. What should I be looking for that is of value. Ie are the bucket seats similar to pickup buckets (bolt in?). I assume front clips are the same as pickup but what about doors. What is the availabilty of repair panels?Has an engine 350 but he doesn't know if it runs. Says the 4wd part is good. Will a short box fit on 72 jimmy frame? Sorry about all questions but as you know I'm a pickup man and never had any contact with these.

Value:
Good top and hatch. Solid Rocker boxes. Solid window frame. Back seat. Interior panels. Bucket seats I think are same but "bolt in" mountings are different on pass side to allow seat to fold. Front clips same. Doors same w/ window frame cut but need extra bracing on inside (take out of originals). Repair panels: Truck front clips and doors and some patch panels will work. NOS Blazer/Jimmy Quarter panels are very rare. Only seen one set on ebay and they went for over $400 a side. I have heard of people using SB bed panels to repair quarters but they require a good bit of modification/trimming. |
