I did the following to my 1948 trk:
1.extended the cab 3" & frame
2.chopped the top
3.removed the drip rails
4.make a beb w/caddy fins
5. 350/700r4/9" Rear

Frame boxed, extended,Zed in back,K-member,Must II w/ps,crysler SW rear springs, 9" Ford, sross flow alum radiator.......etc

Pic of door chopped & extended 3" to make more room in the cab. 350/700R4/3.89

I am not getting many replies on my pics so this will probably be my last do to lack of interest.
Note..I cut the rear of the frame off & welded a pc of square stock to the top of the frame to mount the rear spring hanger. This moved the spring up 4" in the rear & lowered the trk 2".

Sorry Don, I meant to comment on that link. but got lost on other posts. I was admiring your brothers truck in that link, but was more interested in your truck and any details of cab/bed mounting on that chassis. I did see your leaf spring re-location on another thread and was wondering about those welds and the stress on them, But it looks like an excellent way to lower the rear and maintain the spring rate.

The tubing is welded solid on the inner frame rail & boxed. The welds you see are just spot weldes. The tubing is also bolted to the frame.

Daniel, I stopped working on the trk last may when I found a Corvair conv't for $1200 & am just finishing that project.

This weekend I will start back on the yellow trk(Buford). I'll take pics as I progress. It should be done this summer. I want to drive it to the street rod nationals in Tampa this fall.

A couple of pics.

I started working on the 48 after being away from it for 7-8 month .
It took me an hour just to remove the dust from it. I spent the day trying to align the hood/fenders/grill. Since I made the core support & the a GMC hood from a Chevy hood it looks like it will take a few days to get it looking right.
( a lot of cutting & welding.

Also the bottom of the bed .just forword of the fenders is hitting the rear running board support. Looks like I will hav to redesign the rear supports.
