Had one follow me home today
Many of y'all know when I moved form TX to NC I had ot leave my trucks at my dads place. I'm planning on going n pickin them up this summer but I was jonesin for a truck bad. I found this one pop up on craigslist, bought it from the second owners son and it's been in their family since 74. Mostly surface rust in it, lil bit near the kick panels, needs two floor supports and the rockers are gone but it came with a freshly rebuilt 283. Now lets see if I can have it running in time for the NC meet!

SWEET!!!
Whats the plans? All your cool stuff is packed in the back of the panel back home. Whats the details on this one? I'd bet with some elbow grease... you could have a semi-shine on that one... give the kids a can of wax and a diaper... |

Re: Had one follow me home today
I paid $800 for it. I'm gonna throw the 283 it came with in it, find some rallyes for it, clean it up good and drive it for now. I'll eventually throw some rockers n floor supports in it but for now I just miss having a 67-72 to drive. It had a 3 on the tree they converted to floor shift when the column shifter kept locking up on em. Shows to be 181k original miles, based on the suspension and condition of the rest I believe it. Been repainted once in the late 80s. Has the full custom trim still inside and out. Should be an easy fix for a beater/driver

That's cool man! I hope I get to see it in person on April 19th! If you can't get the truck there, at least bring some pics.

Re: Had one follow me home today
Looks awesome ...
If your local cops are as bad as they are around here, I would definably ditch those red lights on the front bumper before getting the ol' gal back on the road. They're kinda weird about colors other than white and yellow facing forward. Great find, btw! Last edited by Shane; 03-11-2008 at 07:00 AM. |

Re: Had one follow me home today
I'll ditch the lights soon, guy I bought it from is a cop/vfd n this was his old daily driver he used when responding to fire calls, he took the strobes n flasher controls out but left the lights... Not sure if I'll drop it or leave it stock height. The gun rack is prolly gonna stay it adds a kinda neat look to it and gives ya a place to hang a hat. Only tiem will tell what all happens to it but the number one goal is to get her driving again and then start the rest.
