Value of 454/th400 ?

I pulled the 454/th400 out of the 74 3/4 ton GMC that I have had sitting a while . I just left it in the truck because it was a good place for it but I am cleaning up and the truck will go to the crusher . What is a core 454/th400 combo worth . I pulled the engine /trans complete with all brackets and accessories . The truck had 92,xxx miles and ran OK when I parked it several years ago . I will probably keep the engine but was just wondering what they are worth these days . I pulled the radiator and shroud also . The mounts should be the same right ? No need to pull the motor mounts ? Is there anything else I should get before my friend hauls it off . Are 3/4 ton front swaybars thicker than 1/2 tons ? I am not hunting for a buyer but if this post is a problem , let me know and I will delete it . Frank

Yes the eng. mounts are different i'd get 'em if you still have the truck and yes the anit sway bar is thicker on a 3/4t than the 1/2t trucks i'd get it too.

As for the Value of the eng. and trans not a whole lot the block will be worth more than the tran's but how much is really up to the person who want's to buy it and how bad they want it. And with fuel prices going out of sight don't expect to sell it any time soon.

Re: Value of 454/th400 ?

The truck is still here so I will grab the mounts and swaybar tomorrow. It will probably disappear Monday . As for the 454 , it went into the barn and will probably stay there since it is the only one I have other than the the 454 77 I have . If I decide to build a nice big block for one of my trucks , this one would be a great candidate . I used my front end loader to pull it and it was the easiest pull ever . Frank

That combo should be worth 1000 bucks --- not everybody cares about fuel prices for their weekend toy

Maybe 750 if you just want to dump it quick

The hydro-boost system would be nice to have.

The truck had regular vacuum assist brakes . It did ,for some reason , have a power steering cooler . Frank
