Chrome paint???

A while back, there was a post of chrome paint being used on a dash bezel. A buddy of mine is trying to find it, and I told him I would help. Anybody remember?

Re: Chrome paint???

I dunno about the thread posted here, but I used some years ago and you gotta really prep the area your spraying and give a few good coats, let dry for a long time too before trying to work with it. Otherwise you will get chips and flakes

Thanks for sharing and that is a very nice factory gauge cluster and factory tach. The bezel looks fantastic.

What is your opinion of the Krylon, Original Chrome?

Keep up the good work and thanks for the information.

Tony,

I can't vouch for this product, the pictures that I posted I had saved to my PC from another board members previous post. Do a search for HIGHLANDER and you should find his post(s) regarding this product - IIRC he was rather pleased with the product.

Re: Chrome paint???

There is a product called "mirrachrome" made be Alsa. That's what you'll want. Go to their site and look around. They have a bunch of killer stuff. It comes in spray cans or in pint, quart, or gallon cans to use with a gun. The home depot stuff will show every fingerprint from everytime you touch it from here to the junkyard. This stuff you can clear over, whereas the cheap stuff turns gray.
I will tell you, though, that you are supposed to spray this stuff on only after you have painted your part black, wetsanded, and buffed it slick. It's got to look literally like glass before you can achieve that mirror look. Any orange peel or texture will show in it.

Kinda like the new trucks' chrome bumpers compared to "show chrome".

Oh, and it will cost you your firstborn.
