Raw gas smell
I have a 78 GMC 1 Ton Dually with dual gas tanks. All tanks, lines, fuel pump and componentes are new, but have a strong raw gas smell in the cab while driving. (Not when idling or parked)
Engine is a small block 400 with a holley carb and holley headers. All rubber lines from the tanks to the carb are new. Thought that it might be the vents at the sending unit, so I plugged it, but it still smells. The only thing not new are the sending units. Thanks for any help |

Re: Raw gas smell
Do you have vapor canisters? On my 79, if I fill the R tank too full when it's warmer out, the vapors condense in that canister and I get the same smell you're talking about.

Re: Raw gas smell
try driving it with the fill cap loose...or off & see if it still stinks.

Re: Raw gas smell
check the lines running to your mechanical fuel pump on the block... it could be the feed line from the tank to the pump. common problem
