Did you Ever ?
Has anyone ever had the feeling of not wanting to drive or do anything to their truck. I am coming off the long cold winter and the truck has been tucked away since last October. I went to the garage yesterday and had a look at her and I'm just not getting the vibes/thrill ??? I was getting the last 6or 7 years in the Spring when it was time to take it out for the summer months. All Winter I've been thinking about the things I'm gonna do to her, but when I saw her there was no passion.. I'd appreciate any comments, feelings, and/or opinions from anyone.

Re: Did you Ever ?
Try again tomorrow. Maybe it the project aspect that is not exciting you. Somedays I am pumped up aboout fixing or changing something, somedays I just want to drive it (washed or unwashed).

Re: Did you Ever ?
Are you overwhelmed or depressed about other aspects of your life? Personally, i find my automotive passion reflects my general mental health. If I'm bummed out about where my life is going, then I couold care less about my trucks, and even think about unloading them and getting some crap box modern car... one with a/c and never needs the hood opened. But, if life is grand, then my trucks are the shiznit in my mind.

Re: Did you Ever ?
Thanks for the replies guys. As far as my life is going everything couldn't be peachier. A few years ago when I was going through some stuff and I found the whole truck ( driving, cleaning, tweaking, searching for parts and figuring and deciding how I wanted the truck to be) experience very theraputic for me when I didnt have a lot of other positives in my life. I'll probably take it for ride in a week or two and see how I feel then.

Re: Did you Ever ?
Spring fever for me. When I don't want to work on it is when it's just too cold to mess with and I don't have any money. As far as driving it, I'll spend an hour cleaning junk out of the way just to take it around the block. I need to here it run, feel the wind through the windows. Feel the hum of 3000 rpm just to be at highway speeds. Smell the rich exhaust fumes and that old truck smell. But I'm just weird that way. That's why so many of us are here though!

Re: Did you Ever ?
I cannot wait till May when I can put my '69 Chevy back on the road!! I've been patiently waiting all winter to drive it again and take it to show 'N' shines around town!! And this summer it's gonna be even better because of all the things I added to it this winter:
Full length ceramic coated headers, powdercoated engine accessories, 100% LED lighting, lowered the rear end 1", installed a pair of blue racing seats and a custom center console, custom floor mats, and upgraded my stereo system

Re: Did you Ever ?
Maybe it's time you start seeing other trucks. Maybe let someone else driver her for awhile. You know try out the whole open relationship thing.

Re: Did you Ever ?
Hang in there and keep searching this site. I get bummed waiting on mine to get finished. At this point it is mainly because of waiting on the bodyman. Then I get on here and look at some of the other projects, builds, and finished rides and it usually gets me motivated again.

Re: Did you Ever ?
you just need to take it for a ride. i drive 2 of mine daily when the roads arn't sloppy. but since i started doing this i don't care to work on them anymore. both need atention here and there but ain't broke so don't need fixing. when i worked construction i enjoyed tinkering on them. now i wrench and it's the last thing i wanna do in my time off but am still collecting parts for some of my others, i'm sure the weather has a lot to do with it as well. you'll get the fever again

Re: Did you Ever ?
I have the same problem. Some days I would rather stay at work and blow stuff up than go back to the shop and try to put my truck back together. Some days I do not want to be at work at all and want to work on my truck all day. Just have to try again tommorrow or next week. Youll get the bug again, then it'll be cool.

Re: Did you Ever ?
Thanks again for all the replies. I was thinkin' last night and realized the sun hasn't realy been out that much here and the truck is sitting in a dimly lit garage, so everything looks dull. I'm going to work starting this Sunday night and am doing 7, 12 hour night shifts in 8 days. On the morning of the 22nd. if the sun is shining , I'll pop the battery in her, fire her up ( I do love the sound of that big block running ) and drive her out into the sun, and hopefully I'll be cured.

Re: Did you Ever ?
Happens all the time. Sometimes I just take a break from my truck and work on other passions; my art, bicycling, rolling on the floor with my kids. Like longhornman said, when the rest of my life gets back in rhythm, then I feel better about tearing into my truck.
On a lighter note, Seriously the pink paint could be may be affecting your testosterone levels causing some sort of inbalance.

I just have to drive it. After a winter of driving a crap can ecno-box around, cracking the secondaries on the 4bbl is all it takes.
